Story Both Iowa natives, Josh and Emily became a team while earning MFA degrees in Printmaking at the University of Tennessee. After grad school it was off to beautiful New Orleans where Emily taught as a visiting printmaking instructor at Tulane University and Josh started working with the now famous wallpaper company Flavor Paper. It was here the couple developed a love of wallpaper and its amazing fusion of art, print and design. Josh continued to work for Flavor Paper for the next decade, first as their Master Printer and later as their Digital Print Manager. In 2009 they relocated with Flavor Paper to Brooklyn, NY where their family also expanded to include a couple of wallpaper loving kiddos. In 2016 the couple decided to make the big change and move back to their mid-western origins to create The Pattern Farm.

Sarah’s interest in the meditative and communal intent of craft (such as quilting and weaving) can be seen in icons and patterns that repeat throughout her work. Picking up the fragments of these skills, rearranging and displaying them as artifacts, she references the handmade and the diminished appearance of craft in contemporary art.
The craftsmanship in Bryan’s prints reveal an experimental, contemporary aesthetic. Printing with unusual objects, he appreciates the immediacy of the printmaking experience and the honest way materials reveal themselves through the process.
Until then please contact us to place an order or request samples and project quotes.
